Test Automation Engineering
CTAL-TAE v2.0 is the latest released version of the ISTQB® Certified Tester Advanced Level – Test Automation Engineering certification. Anyone who has been studying for CT-TAE version 2016 can write the exam until the sunset dates (12th June 2025 for English, 12th December 2025 for non-English).
The Advanced Level Test Automation Engineering qualification is aimed at people who have already achieved an advanced point in their careers in software testing and wish to develop further their expertise in automation testing. The modules offered at the Advanced Level cover a wide range of testing topics.
Exam Structure
Candidates qualify for extra time if they are not writing the exam in their native language. Extra time needs to be applied for upon completing the exam registration form.

Exam Entry Criteria
To be eligible for the ISTQB Advanced Test Automation Engineer exam, candidates should have passed an ISTQB Foundation exam and should hold an ISTQB Foundation certificate.
18 Months of practical software testing or IT experience is recommended but not required.
