Because basic awareness is now foundational, the new CTAL-AT v2.0 elevates the certification to an Advanced professional level. It moves past basic terminology to focus on shaping test strategies, driving shift-left practices, mastering collaborative techniques (like example mapping and mob testing), and leading quality in complex Agile/DevOps environments.

Q: What are the prerequisites for taking the new CTAL-AT v2.0 exam?

To qualify for the CTAL-AT v2.0 exam, you must hold one of the following prerequisite paths:

A valid ISTQB® Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) v4.0 certificate.
A valid ISTQB® Certified Tester Foundation Level certificate (prior to v4.0) PLUS a valid ISTQB® Foundation Level Agile Tester (CTFL-AT) certificate.

Q: I already hold the CTFL-AT (Foundation) or CTAL-ATT (Agile Technical Tester) certificate. Does it automatically upgrade to the new CTAL-AT v2.0?

No, there is no automatic transition or grandfathering. Your existing CTFL-AT and CTAL-ATT certificates remain valid for life, but if you want to achieve the official CTAL-AT v2.0 Advanced Level credential, you will need to sit for and pass the new CTAL-AT v2.0 exam.
