The minimum requirements for a candidate to write any CTAL certification are:
- The candidate must have passed an ISTQB CTFL exam and hold an ISTQB CTFL certificate.
The Full Advanced Level Certificate is earned by passing all four exams; i.e., CTAL Test Manager, CTAL Test Analyst, CTAL Technical Test Analyst and CTAL Security Tester.

The minimum requirements for a candidate to write any CTEL certification are:
- The candidate must have passed an ISTQB CTFL exam and hold and ISTQB CTFL certificate.
- The candidate must have passed an ISTQB CTAL Test Manager exam and have an ISTQB CTAL Test Manager certificate or hold an ISEB Practitioner certificate earned by passing an exam taken no later than 31 March 2008 or hold an ISEB Test Management Practitioner certificate earned by passing an exam against the new ISEB Practitioner Syllabus (since 1 April 2008)
- Except as specified above, no other ISEB certification will satisfy the entry criteria for the Expert Test Manager certification
- The candidate must have at least 5 years of full-time practical testing experience
- The candidate must have at least 2 years of industry experience in the specific Expert Level topic

Cancellation / Rescheduling by Public Exam Candidate
The following cancellation / rescheduling fees will apply:

SASTQB accepts no responsibility for incorrect information submitted by the examination candidate. It is the responsibility of the examination candidate to ensure that all e-mail correspondence is received and completed on time.
SASTQB reserves the right to charge an administration fee of R 500 for any additional examination registrations submitted online without prior written notice to cancel or reschedule the previous examination registration.
Failure to abide by these terms and conditions will result in a 6 month waiting period before the next exam registration will be accepted.
The cancellation fee is subject to review in the event of a sudden illness. A doctor’s certificate can confirm that the candidate was unable to attend the exam session and a copy of the certificate must be sent by e-mail to info@sastqb.org.za within 24 hours. The SASTQB reserves the right to charge an administration fee to process the examination reschedule due to illness.
All cancellations must be sent in writing to info@sastqb.org.za in writing. Cancellations and rescheduling of examination sessions will only be processed after the identity of the candidate has been confirmed.
The above cancellation fees apply to candidates who fail to inform us in writing of the cancellation or rescheduling of an examination session.
Cancellation by Accredited Training Providers
This booking may be canceled by the Accredited Training Provider without charge provided that the SASTQB is notified, in writing, no later than 10 working days prior to the exam date. Cancellation after this time will incur an administration charge of R 1000.
Cancellation/Rescheduling of an Exam by the SASTQB
The SASTQB reserves the right to cancel or reschedule an exam session if less than 5 candidates have registered for a public exam session. The exam session can be canceled or rescheduled up to 48 hours prior to the commencement thereof.
The SASTQB reserves the right to cancel or reschedule an exam session if sudden, unforeseen circumstances arise which include, but are not limited to, force majeure.
In the event that the SASTQB cancels an exam, a candidate will be entitled to:
- A full refund of monies paid to the SASTQB, excluding additional costs incurred by himself/herself.
- Reschedule the exam, free of charge, to an alternative date that is no later than three months from the canceled exam date.
Rescheduling of an Exam by a Candidate
A candidate may reschedule an exam session that he/she has registered for, bearing in mind that the above cancellation fees will apply.
A candidate who has elected to reschedule an exam that has been paid for must register to complete the exam within three months. Failure to register within the prescribed period will result in the candidate forfeiting the exam fee.

- Each candidate must be able to identify himself/herself before writing the exam. Please remember to take your ID book, passport or driver’s license to the exam venue.
- A candidate is required to register with the name(s) and surnames per the method of identification that will be used on the day of the exam.
- A copy of an ID book, passport or driver’s license, whether certified or not, is not considered to be suitable identification.
- A candidate will not be allowed to enter the examination session if positive identification cannot be provided.
- A candidate will not be allowed to enter the examination session on late arrival.
- The examination session for the CTAL Advanced Test Manager and Advanced Test Analyst will be 180 minutes (excluding extra time).
- The examination session for the CTAL Advanced Technical Test Analyst and Advanced Security Tester will be 120 minutes (excluding extra time).
- The examination session for the CTAL Test Automation Engineer will be 90 minutes (excluding extra time).
- The examination session for the CTEL Expert Test Manager will be 135 minutes (excluding extra time).
- The examination session for the CTFL Certification (Foundation Level) will be 60 minutes (excluding extra time).
- The examination session for the Foundation Agile will be 60 minutes (excluding extra time).
- The examination session for the IREB CPRE (Foundation Level) will be 75 minutes (excluding extra time).The pass rate for ISTQB certifications is 65%.
- The pass rate for the IREB CPRE certification is 60%.
- A candidate will get three opportunities to write and pass the exam within 6 months. Failing to do so, the candidate will be allowed to write an exam again after 12 months.
- All examination fees must be fully paid prior to the exam session.
- The SASTQB reserves the right to withhold a candidate’s exam result(s) until all exam fees have been settled.

A candidate may submit a request, in writing, for their paper to be re-marked following the receipt of his/her exam result. The re-mark of an exam paper can be requested at an additional cost. The re-mark process may take up to 6 weeks to complete and the result thereof will be sent to the candidate.
- Certificates will only be sent to postal addresses. Should a candidate not have a postal address, it is the responsibility of the candidate to make an alternative arrangement with the SASTQB.
- A tracking number will be sent to the candidate on the day of the dispatch of the certificate.
- It is the responsibility of the candidate to trace the successful delivery of the certificate.
- The SASTQB will not be held responsible for any loss of certificates.
A duplicate certificate can be requested at an additional cost.

All candidates who have successfully completed a certification will be listed on the website of the SASTQB.
A candidate who has achieved a recognized certification from an entity other than the SASTQB may request, in writing, that his/her name be added to the website at a fee. Supporting documents will be required to confirm the validity of the request.

During the registration process, the candidate will be requested to confirm whether the SASTQB may provide the ISTQB with statistical data to update their Successful Candidate Register (SCR) contingent on a positive outcome for the exam the candidate has registered for. The data provided to the ISTQB will never contain any contact information and will be treated with the utmost confidentiality (i.e. it will not be distributed or sold to third parties).

The candidate confirms that all the information provided on the online registration form is accurate. The candidate gives consent that marks and all other correspondence from the SASTQB be sent to the email address that was provided during registration and acknowledges that the recipient of this email address has access to this information. The SASTQB will not be held liable for any disclosure of contact information as stated in the Privacy Act, No 4 of 2013.
The candidate gives consent for the training provider to have access to marks and all other correspondence sent to him/her from the SASTQB. The SASTQB will not be held liable for any disclosure of information as stated in the Privacy Act No. 4 of 2013.

The candidate agrees that he/she shall comply with the relevant provisions of the certification that he/she is applying for. The candidate agrees to make claims regarding certification only with respect to the scope for which certification has been granted. The candidate agrees to not use the certification in such a manner to bring the board into disrepute, and not to make any statement regarding the certification which the member board may consider misleading or unauthorized.
In the event that certification is withdrawn or suspended, the candidate agrees to discontinue the use of all claims to the certification and any reference to the member board. In the event that certification is withdrawn or suspended the candidate also agrees to return any certificates issued by the member board and not use the certificate in a misleading manner.

Cancellation by Public Exam Candidate
The following cancellation fees will apply:

All cancellations must be forwarded to us in writing. The above cancellation fees will apply for candidates who fail to inform us of the cancellation of an exam in writing.
Cancellation by Training Providers
No charge for cancellation up to 3 weeks prior to the exam date.
This booking may be canceled by the Training Provider without charge provided that the SASTQB is notified, in writing, no later than 5 working days prior to the exam date. Cancellation after this time will incur an administration charge of R 1000.
