Any approved additional-time allocation

Candidates writing paper-based examinations must:

Write the required details on the question paper and answer sheet

Avoid making noise when leaving while others are still writing

Notify the invigilator or proctor immediately if you believe that:

Examination Structure

The structure of each examination is determined by the certification owner and applicable syllabus version.

Depending on the certification, the examination may include:

Multiple-choice questions
Scenario-based questions
Questions carrying different point values
Written assignments
Essay components
Practical or portfolio requirements

ISTQB Foundation, Advanced and Specialist examinations are generally multiple-choice examinations based on the learning objectives in the applicable syllabus. The number of questions and examination duration vary between certifications.

Candidates should review the individual certification page for:

Number of questions
Maximum available points
Pass mark
Examination duration
Applicable syllabus version
Additional-time allowance
Prerequisites
Available examination format

Because these requirements differ between certifications and may change when a syllabus is updated, candidates should not rely on a general examination-duration list.

Always consult the current examination structure for your specific certification and syllabus version.
