How to Register for Your Exam
Your Step-by-Step Guide to Writing an International Software Testing Certification Exam
Booking your ISTQB, IREB, TMMi or A4Q certification exam with SASTQB is quick and straightforward. Follow the steps below to register, prepare and complete your internationally recognised software testing certification.
Step 1:
Choose Your Certification
Select the certification you would like to write. SASTQB offers a wide range of internationally recognised software testing certifications, including ISTQB, IREB, TMMi and A4Q.
Step 2:
Select an Exam Session
View our upcoming exam schedule and choose the exam session that best suits your availability. Depending on the certification, you may be able to choose between:
– Remote-Proctored (Online) Exams
– Paper-Based Exams
Step 3:
Complete the Online Registration Form
Complete our online examination registration form with your personal details and preferred exam session.
Please ensure that all information is accurate, as it will be used for your examination booking and certification.
Step 4:
Receive Your Registration Confirmation
Once your registration has been submitted successfully, you will receive an automated confirmation email acknowledging receipt of your application.
A member of the SASTQB team will review your registration and contact you within 24 business hours. If you have not received any communication from us within 48 business hours, please contact us so that we can assist you.
Step 5:
Payment Confirmation
Once your registration has been approved, you will receive an invoice containing your payment details and payment deadline.
To secure your booking:
– Make payment before the due date.
Email your proof of payment to finance@sastqb.org.za.
– Your examination booking will only be confirmed once payment has been received and allocated.
Training Provider Candidates
If your examination is being paid for by an Accredited Training Provider, employer or you have received an examination voucher, payment will be processed through the sponsoring organisation. No additional payment will be required unless otherwise communicated.
Step 6:
Receive Your Exam Confirmation
Approximately five (5) days before your examination, you will receive your official examination confirmation containing:
– Examination date
– Examination time
– Examination venue or online access instructions
– Examination rules
– Important candidate information

Step 7:
Prepare for Your Exam
Paper-Based Exams
Please arrive at the examination venue on time.
You must bring one of the following original forms of identification:
– South African ID Book or Smart ID Card
– Passport
Photocopies, certified copies, temporary documents and digital images of identification documents will not be accepted.
Candidates who fail to provide acceptable identification may be refused entry to the examination and applicable cancellation or rescheduling fees may apply.
Remote-Proctored Exams
Before your examination, please ensure that:
– Your computer meets the published technical requirements.
– Your webcam and microphone are functioning correctly.
– You have a stable internet connection.
– You have completed all required system checks.
– You have an acceptable original identification document available for verification.
Technical issues that are not caused by SASTQB or the Exam Provider may prevent you from completing your examination.

Step 8:
Write Your Exam
You’re ready to write your exam!
Remote-Proctored Exams
Your provisional examination result will be available immediately after completing your examination.
Paper-Based Exams
Your examination results will normally be issued within two (2) weeks after the examination date.
Successful candidates will receive their official digital certificate in accordance with SASTQB’s published certification timelines.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I register for an ISTQB® exam?
You can register online by completing the SASTQB examination registration form. Once your registration has been reviewed, you’ll receive an invoice (unless your exam is sponsored or you have a valid voucher). Your booking is confirmed once payment has been received or your voucher has been validated.
Can I write my exam online?
Yes. Many ISTQB, IREB and A4Q certification exams are available as secure remote-proctored exams, allowing you to complete your exam from your home or office. Please ensure that your computer meets the technical requirements before your exam date.
How long does the registration process take?

When will I receive my certificate?

Can someone else pay for my exam?
Yes. Your examination may be paid for by an employer, Accredited Training Provider, educational institution or another sponsor. Where applicable, SASTQB may share your examination status and results with the sponsoring organisation in accordance with our Terms and Conditions.
What happens if I need to reschedule my exam?
You may request to reschedule your examination by contacting SASTQB in writing. Rescheduling requests are subject to the published cancellation and rescheduling policy, and administration fees may apply depending on how close the request is to the examination date.
Where can I prepare for my certification exam?
You may prepare through self-study using the official syllabus and training material or by attending training with one of SASTQB’s Accredited Training Providers.
